Heleen Bossi started collecting vintage Mexican jewellery many years ago and has travelled all over the world to put her unique collection together. Her collection includes stunning silver handmade brooches, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and pendants set with a variety of stones including turquoise, coral and amethyst

as well as various other stones.

Collecting Mexican vintage jewellery has become a worldwide trend, with collectors both looking for stylish, wearable pieces as well as investment pieces. What sets vintage Mexican jewellery apart, is the boldness and strength of the designs, the beautiful gemstones and enameling, which was traditionally combined with silver and also the use of mixed metals. The quality of workmanship and the fact that most of the earlier pieces were handmade

also adds to the appeal.

The uniqueness of these pieces makes them beautiful accessories, strong fashion statements, classical adornments

or even wearable pieces of art.

Heleen hosted a very successful exhibition of her collection of Mexican Vintage Silver Jewellery at the Slee Gallery in Dorp Street, Stellenbosch during September 2012. This was the first exhibition of its kind to be hosted in South-Africa and was endorsed by the Mexican Embassy. “There were approximately 250 pieces of Mexican silver jewellery on display, including pieces by well-known designers such as William Spratling, Antonio Pineda, Margot, Los Castillo and others. Most of the pieces were made between 1930 and the turn of the 20th Century.”
